The victim, who had been away from her home at the time, returned to find that her property had been stolen. What made the situation even more alarming was the discovery that her WiFi router had been tampered with, cutting off access to her doorbell and security cameras. This left her with no video evidence to help identify the perpetrators.

A Pattern of Criminal Activity

According to legal documentation uncovered by WRAL News, a group of individuals from South America has been actively targeting residences in Cary and surrounding areas. This criminal organization has been linked to multiple break-ins not only in the Triangle region but also in neighbouring states.

The document, a probable cause affidavit, highlighted the group’s modus operandi which involves targeting homes with “high yield potential.” They are known to disconnect internet and phone lines before carrying out the burglary. Investigators believe that the thieves research their targets in advance, using the internet to gather information on the location and layout of the homes.

Connection to Previous Incidents

The affidavit revealed that the facts surrounding this particular burglary bore a striking resemblance to previous incidents attributed to the same group. However, no suspects from the organization have been positively identified in this case.
