Mirpurkhas Tragedy: Man Succumbs to Heatstroke

In a tragic turn of events, a 40-year-old cattle trader, Mohammad Yusuf Leghari, lost his life to a severe heatstroke in Mirpurkhas. The scorching temperatures in the city proved to be fatal for Leghari, who collapsed in the cattle market due to the intense heat. Despite being rushed to Civil Hospital, doctors were unable to save him, confirming his demise.

Heatwave Grips Mirpurkhas and Surrounding Areas

The city of Mirpurkhas, along with its surrounding regions, is currently in the grip of a relentless heatwave. The extreme heat has also been felt in Sanghar and other nearby areas, prompting concerns for the well-being of the residents. To address the challenges posed by the heatwave, various organisations, including political parties, social workers, and the district administration, have set up heat stroke camps across different parts of the city. These camps are aimed at providing relief to the residents by offering cold water and beverages.

Appeals for Caution and Precaution

Assistant Commissioner Tando Allahyar Faheem Shakir and Chairman Municipal Committee Syed Samar Abbas Shah Rizvi have issued appeals to the citizens, urging them to limit their outdoor activities to essential tasks only and to avoid unnecessary ventures. The officials made these pleas while visiting the heat stroke camps organised by the district administration, emphasizing the importance of taking precautions in such extreme weather conditions.

Hyderabad Takes Action on Heatwave Awareness

In Hyderabad, a joint session on heatwave awareness was successfully conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioners at the Spark School. The session saw the participation of Rescue 1122 team and District Health office representatives, who provided valuable information and answered queries raised by the students. Moreover, Hyderabad DC Zainul Abideen Memon chaired a meeting directing officers to provide water and ORS to vaccinators to prevent them from heatstroke, highlighting the proactive measures being taken in the face of the heatwave.

Extreme Weather Conditions in Sukkur Division

The local Met Office has forecasted very hot and dry weather to persist across the Sukkur division, with daytime maximum temperatures ranging between 47-48 degrees Celsius. The districts of Sukkur, Khairpur, Jaccababd, and Shikarpur are expected to experience maximum temperatures of 47.5-48 degrees Celsius. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert for the Sukkur division, advising concerned departments and district authorities to remain vigilant and prepared to tackle any contingencies that may arise.
