In a recent turn of events, the lawyer representing the 17-year-old juvenile boy involved in the tragic Pune Porsche crash has shed light on the legal procedures surrounding his trial as an adult. Prashant Patil, the teenager’s legal counsel, stated that the process of determining whether the accused should be tried as an adult could take up to 90 days. According to Patil, the Juvenile Justice Act outlines specific procedures to ascertain whether the Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) is considered a minor or an adult.

During a press briefing, Patil explained, “If a juvenile or CCL is arrested, investigative agencies must file a charge sheet within 30 days of the arrest to consider them as an adult. Following the filing of the charge sheet, a two-month procedure ensues, which includes psychological and social assessments, as well as a de-addiction test.” He emphasized that the accused does not need to remain in rehabilitation during this process.

**Juvenile Justice Board Cancels Bail**

The Juvenile Justice Board made headlines as they cancelled the bail of the teenager on Wednesday, subsequently sending him to a remand home. Patil revealed that in response to applications from investigation agencies to modify the bail, the board had directed to keep the Child in Conflict with Law in a rehabilitation home for 14 days, until June 5. He mentioned that they had opposed the application based on academic considerations and legal points.

**The Pune Porsche Crash Incident**

The tragic incident unfolded on a fateful Sunday morning in Pune’s bustling Kalyani Nagar area. The 17-year-old boy, behind the wheel of a Porsche sports car, collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the untimely demise of two techies, Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. CCTV footage indicated that the minor boy was driving the Porsche at a staggering speed of 160 kmph at the time of the accident.

Reports from the police revealed that the teenager had hosted a party for his friends the previous night to celebrate his Class 12 results. The group indulged in alcohol at various city establishments and took to the streets for a joyride.

**Legal Ramifications and Arrests**

In the aftermath of the harrowing incident, the Pune police took swift action by arresting the teenager’s builder father under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Juvenile Justice Act for ‘failing to fulfill his duty as a guardian’. Allegations surfaced that the father instructed his driver to hand over the keys of the newly acquired Porsche Taycan to his son whenever he requested. However, the father’s legal representative refuted the claims, asserting that the keys were entrusted to the driver and not the teenager.

Furthermore, authorities apprehended two bar owners for serving alcohol to minors, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding saga.

As the legal proceedings continue and the community grapples with the aftermath of this devastating incident, the spotlight remains firmly on the teenager at the center of the controversy. Stay tuned for more updates as the story unfolds..
