In a chilling turn of events, a convicted U.S. sexual predator, Gary Allen Srery, has been linked to the murders of at least four women in Canada, with authorities suspecting that there could be more victims. Srery, who passed away in a U.S. prison in 2011, fled to Canada after posting bail for a 1974 rape charge in Los Angeles and embarked on a terrifying crime spree that spanned over a decade.

### The Victims
#### Eva Dvorak and Patricia McQueen
Eva and Patricia, both 14 years old, were close friends and junior high students at a Calgary school. On February 14, 1976, they vanished while walking in downtown Calgary. The following day, their bodies were discovered under the Happy Valley Overpass on Highway 1, just outside the city.
#### Melissa Rehorek
Melissa, a 20-year-old housekeeper originally from Ontario, moved to Calgary in 1976. She was last seen on September 15, 1976, by her roommate, who mentioned that Melissa intended to hitchhike out of the city during her time off. Tragically, her body was found the next day in a ditch off Township Road 252, near a highway outside Calgary.
#### Barbara MacLean
Barbara, a 19-year-old bank employee who relocated from Nova Scotia to Calgary in 1977, went missing on February 25, 1977. She was last seen leaving a hotel bar alone and walking home. Approximately six hours later, her body was discovered in Calgary by a dog walker.

### Srery’s Crime Spree
Srery, who lived in Canada illegally from 1974 to 1998, adopted various aliases such as Willy Blackman and Rex Long, constantly changed his appearance, vehicles, and locations across the country. In 1998, he was convicted of sexual assault in New Westminister, Canada, deported to the U.S., and subsequently sentenced to life in prison in Idaho for sexually motivated crimes.
### The Investigation
After almost five decades and 850 potential suspects, Srery was identified as the potential killer through genetic genealogy in 2023. The RCMP, along with U.S. and international agencies, collaborated on the investigation, ultimately determining that Srery was the perpetrator of the four cold cases. However, authorities suspect that his crime spree may extend beyond these four murders, possibly into the western United States.
