Police Investigate Suspected Murder in Kabale
Authorities in Kabale are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident involving the suspected murder of Chris Twinomujuni. The 35-year-old resident of Rujogooma village tragically lost his life in a shooting incident at Nyanja trading center in Maziba sub-county, Kabale District, in the early hours of 21st May 2024.

Details of the Incident
Reports indicate that Twinomujuni was socializing with a group of individuals at a bar owned by a woman named Claire. The group was engaged in drinking and smoking marijuana when police officers, led by No. 18715 Sergeant Tumwesigye John, intervened to enforce the law against narcotics. However, the situation quickly escalated as the group resisted the officers’ attempts to disperse them.
During the commotion, Sgt. Tumwesigye discharged his firearm in an effort to control the crowd. Tragically, a stray bullet struck Twinomujuni in the leg, resulting in severe bleeding and ultimately leading to his untimely death.
Police Response and Investigation
Following the incident, authorities opened a case file (CRB 408/2024) to conduct a thorough investigation. A team of detectives, including ASP Akanyijuka Andrew and OC CID D/SP Mukama Hakim, visited the crime scene to gather evidence and statements from witnesses. Additionally, a postmortem examination was carried out to determine the cause of Twinomujuni’s death.
In connection with the incident, three individuals were arrested for attempting to disarm the officer, while Sgt. Tumwesigye and his colleague, PC Owomuhangi James, were detained to aid in the investigation process.
