Rourkela Accident Claims Four Lives
In a tragic incident near Darjing under Chandiposh police station in Sundargarh district, four individuals, including a couple, lost their lives in a horrific car accident on NH-143. The passengers were en route from Bhograi in Balasore district to Rourkela to attend a relative’s funeral when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The couple, identified as Tapan Dasmahaptra (56) and Sarojini (52), tragically succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at Rourkela Govt Hospital. The other two casualties were Gagan Kamali (70) and Amita Mohanty (50). Additionally, six individuals sustained injuries in the crash and were immediately referred to a private hospital for further medical attention as their condition deteriorated.
According to sources, the driver of the vehicle allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel, leading to the fatal collision with the divider. Inspector Manas Mahakud of Chandposh police station confirmed the seizure of the vehicle and ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
