The Fatal Shooting of Ricardo Ryans
Ricardo Ryans, a 44-year-old Aurora resident, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in an alley between the 1600 blocks of Willow and Xanthia streets in Denver’s East Colfax neighborhood on May 30, 2022. This tragic incident sent shockwaves through the local community.
The Investigation
Following the discovery of Ryans’ body, police received a tip about a Volkswagen Tiguan parked near East 14th Avenue and Niagara Street. Officers found bullet holes and blood on the passenger seat of the vehicle, prompting a search for the driver. Witnesses revealed that the woman driving the SUV had been with Ryans when an unknown assailant opened fire on their vehicle.
The Arrest of Lu Reh
After nearly two years of intensive investigation, Aurora police were able to identify Lu Reh as a suspect in Ryans’ murder. Through witness statements and forensic evidence, Reh was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
Connection to Ma Kaing’s Murder
This arrest comes on the heels of Reh already facing charges in the shooting death of Ma Kaing on July 15, 2022. He is currently charged with two counts of first-degree murder and 14 counts of attempted first-degree murder in that case.
