Uttarkashi: Tragedy struck during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand as 54-year-old Vishnu Kumar Bhabha, a pilgrim from Bengaluru, lost his life while visiting the revered Yamunotri Dham. The incident occurred on Sunday when Bhabha suddenly felt unwell and collapsed while walking towards the holy site.

Medical Emergency Leads to Unfortunate Demise
Upon collapsing, Bhabha was rushed to a nearby hospital in Janaki Chatti, where medical professionals declared him brought dead. This unfortunate event marks the third casualty during the Char Dham Yatra, which commenced on May 10. The district administration is urging all devotees to prioritize their health and undergo a thorough medical check-up before embarking on the pilgrimage.

According to doctors, high-altitude sickness is a common occurrence among pilgrims visiting the Char Dham sites, with breathing problems often leading to fatal outcomes. The Barkot SHO Santosh Singh Kunwar revealed that Bhabha’s companions acted swiftly in seeking medical assistance, but unfortunately, their efforts were in vain.

CMO BS Rawat highlighted the dangers of traveling on foot to Yamunotri Dham, especially considering the fluctuating weather conditions and temperature changes. Rawat emphasized the importance of pilgrims getting a comprehensive medical check-up at the Janaki Chatti hospital before commencing their journey, in a bid to prevent further tragedies.
