In a recent development in Niger State, two suspected thieves were apprehended by the police Operatives attached to the Niger State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force. Police Statement
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the incident occurred on 8th May 2024 at about 10:00 hours. Police operatives attached to A Division, Bida, in collaboration with community members, intercepted a Toyota Corolla vehicle with Registration Number: LRG 757 AA at Area-4 Bida. The two individuals inside the vehicle, identified as Aliyu Zaki, aged 36, and Umar Mohammed, aged 20, claimed to be from Massage and Kusodogbo areas of Bida LGA.
Details of the Arrest
The suspects aroused suspicion in the area, and when questioned, Aliyu attempted to flee with the vehicle, while Umar also tried to escape. However, the Police team was alerted, pursued the suspects, and successfully apprehended them. During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were in the area to steal goats, and two goats were reported stolen before their interception in the community.
