Initial Incident at Walmart

The chaos began when reports came in that 27-year-old Kati Louise Villoch was attempting to break into the gun display at Walmart. Although she had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived, Walmart’s surveillance footage provided crucial information about Villoch’s physical appearance and vehicle details.

High-Speed Chase

Around 10:50 a.m., VSP located Villoch’s vehicle and pulled her over on the 1400 block of East Main Street. Refusing to comply with law enforcement, Villoch allegedly backed into the trooper’s vehicle, hitting an officer in the process, before fleeing the scene. A police pursuit ensued with multiple officers giving chase, ultimately losing Villoch on North 4th Street.

Dramatic Stand-Off

Despite losing track of Villoch’s vehicle, Wytheville PD and VSP continued their search and were successful when a Wytheville Detective spotted the vehicle in a residential neighborhood near the Wythe County Community Hospital. When confronted by law enforcement, Villoch again attempted to evade capture, leading to a high-speed chase through the neighborhood, into the hospital grounds, and eventually crashing into an embankment on West Ridge Road.

Arrest and Charges

After a brief stand-off, VSP’s Tactical Team utilized a distraction device to prompt Villoch to surrender. However, the drama didn’t end there as Villoch allegedly managed to slip out of her handcuffs at the magistrate’s office and made a futile attempt to escape before being promptly apprehended. Despite the officer being struck during the incident, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
