Arrest and Charges for Fatal Crash
A shocking incident has unfolded in Wicomico County, Maryland, as Catherine Ann Thornton, 39, has been arrested and charged with multiple homicide offenses in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of Aaron Douglas III. The tragic event occurred on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, when deputies responded to a call at the intersection of South Upper Ferry Road and Siloam Road in Eden.

Victim Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered Douglas suffering from severe injuries that were deemed life-threatening. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care and assessment of his condition. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Douglas tragically succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Suspect Vehicle Located
Thanks to the cooperation of witnesses, a description of the suspect vehicle was provided, leading to a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert being issued. The vehicle was later located by members of the Princess Anne police Department, who promptly seized it for further investigation.
Charges Filed Against Thornton
Following a detailed investigation, Thornton was identified as a person of interest in the case. Subsequently, a grand jury returned an indictment charging her with a range of serious offenses, including homicide with a motor vehicle or vessel involving drugs, negligent homicide, altering physical evidence during criminal processing, and related drug and traffic offenses.
Arrest and Detention
On Wednesday, members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office took Thornton into custody, and she is currently being held at the county detention center without bond. The community is reeling from the tragic loss of Aaron Douglas III and the shocking circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
