Birmingham police Question Person of Interest in Deadly Shooting

The incident took place around 4:20 p.m. when officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 5700 block of Court I. Upon arrival, they were informed that a person was lying on the ground in the front yard of a home in the 900 block of 58th Street Ensley, not far from Miles College.

When officers reached the scene, they found Lambert unresponsive with visible signs of trauma. Despite the efforts of Birmingham Fire and Rescue, Lambert was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe that prior to his death, he was involved in an argument with one or two men who then fired shots at him before fleeing.

Following the incident, 911 dispatchers notified officers that one of the men involved was on his way to Birmingham Police Headquarters to surrender. Additionally, a person of interest has been contacted by the police for questioning.
