Arrest of Alleged Bomber and Mastermind in Bengaluru Blast

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough in the case of the March 1 Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe blast by arresting the alleged bomber and mastermind in Digha, West Bengal. The suspects, identified as Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, were apprehended by the NIA, who suspect that a local resident had guided them during their three-week stay in Bengal.

Link to Terror Outfit and Assistance from Muzammil Shareef

The investigation also revealed a link to a terror outfit, Muzammil Shareef, who had visited Kolkata and assisted Taha and Shazib. Shareef was arrested by the NIA in Chennai on March 26 and is accused of providing logistical support to the suspects.

Travel and Activities of Taha and Shazib

Sources indicate that Taha and Shazib, both aged 30, were traced to Digha after interrogating Shareef. The two suspects traveled to various locations, including Kolkata, Darjeeling, Purulia, and Digha, using cash for all transactions. They stayed at different hotels in Kolkata, using fake names to conceal their identities.

Meeting with Shareef in Kolkata

On March 21, Taha and Shazib returned to Kolkata after a brief stay in Ranchi. Shareef also arrived in Kolkata from Bengaluru on the same day and met with them at Dharmatala. Shareef reportedly covered the daily expenses of the two suspects during their time in Kolkata.

Exploration of Tourist Places and Activities

Initially, Taha and Shazib sought to hide their presence, but eventually, they became more confident and began exploring tourist spots in the area. They visited places like Darjeeling, Digha, and even went to Chandni Chowk for mobile phone repairs. The suspects’ activities indicate a calculated attempt to blend in with the local surroundings.
