The Tragic Murder of Retired police Officer E. Krishnamurthy
The Selaiyur police have made a shocking arrest in the case of the murder of E. Krishnamurthy, a 69-year-old retired police officer. Krishnamurthy, a former sub-inspector at the Koyambedu police station, was brutally attacked in his own home on Friday night.

A Night of Deception and Tragedy
It all started when two women knocked on Krishnamurthy’s door in Ranga Salai, Selaiyur, claiming to have found a gold chain belonging to a man passed out drunk on the street. They asked Krishnamurthy to keep the chain safe until they could return it to its rightful owner. Little did he know, this simple act of kindness would lead to his untimely demise.
A Fatal Misunderstanding
When Krishnamurthy attempted to wake up the intoxicated man to return the chain, he was met with aggression. The man accused Krishnamurthy of stealing his chain and violently assaulted him, resulting in severe head injuries. Despite being rushed to Chromepet Government Hospital and later transferred to a private hospital in Porur, Krishnamurthy tragically succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Justice Served
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s devastated wife, the Selaiyur police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect, Sivaraman. The 27-year-old call taxi driver from Tiruvannamalai was taken into custody and subsequently remanded in judicial custody pending further legal proceedings.

E. Krishnamurthy’s life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. As a retired police officer, he dedicated his life to upholding the law and serving his community. His untimely death has left his family, friends, and colleagues in shock and mourning.
