Details of the Rameshwaram Cafe Blast

Two men, Mussavir Hussain Shazeb and Abdul Matheen Taha, planned and executed the blast at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe last month. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested them in Kolkata after a joint operation by central intelligence agencies and police of several states.

The Escape Plan

After the blast, Shazib boarded a Bengaluru state transport bus and traveled through multiple states, including Goraguntepalya, Tumkur, Ballari, Kalaburagi, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and finally reaching Kolkata. Taha took a different route via Tamil Nadu to reach Kolkata. The two met in Kolkata and took shelter in a hideout, but their plan was thwarted by NIA officials.

Arrest of Accomplice

Before the arrest of Shazeb and Taha, the NIA had taken Muzammil Shareef into custody for providing logistical support to the two main suspects. The blast at Rameshwaram Cafe on ITPL Road injured 10 people but resulted in no deaths.

Support from Multiple Agencies

The NIA operation received support from central intelligence agencies and state police agencies of West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala. This collaboration led to the successful arrest of the suspects involved in the cafe blast.
