The Cold Case Finally Solved

However, in 1968, tragedy struck when Grayam was shot dead while on his delivery route. The case, known as the “Milkman Homicide,” remained unsolved for 56 years until recent developments shed light on the truth. The Indian River Sheriff’s Office announced that Thomas J. Williams, who passed away in 2016, had confessed to Grayam’s murder, finally bringing closure to the long-standing cold case.

A Family’s Heartbreak

Grayam, a Purple Heart recipient, had moved to Vero Beach with his family in the 1960s and worked as a salesman for Borden Milk Company. On April 11, 1968, he went out on his usual delivery route but never returned home. His son, Larry Grayam, was just 16 years old at the time and was devastated by the loss of his father.

Larry recounted the pain of receiving the news of his father’s death, expressing the deep impact it had on him and his family. The case went cold for decades, leaving the Grayam family without answers until a new lead emerged in 2006, reigniting hope for justice.

A Break in the Case

After Thomas Williams was identified as the prime suspect in the murder, new evidence came to light, leading to the confession of Williams’ ex-wife and a friend of his sister. Both witnesses revealed that Williams had admitted to killing the milkman, allowing authorities to close the case and bring some semblance of peace to the Grayam family.
