The St. Petersburg Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the incident, which involved a Pinellas County deputy and occurred on Monday evening in the vicinity of 95th Avenue North, just off Oakhurst Road.

Sequence of Events

Authorities indicated that the deputy responded to a call about an armed individual at 14041 95th Avenue North. The call was made after a 44-year-old woman, later identified as Amy Jaeger, allegedly stabbed her 70-year-old partner following a heated argument. The victim managed to flee the scene and seek refuge at a neighbor’s residence.

Holloway disclosed that Jaeger pursued the victim to the neighbor’s house, attempting to force her way inside. When the Pinellas County deputy arrived at the scene, he encountered Jaeger brandishing a knife. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Jaeger advanced towards the deputy, prompting him to discharge several rounds.

Current Condition of Individuals Involved

As of Monday night, the 70-year-old male victim was reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital, whereas Jaeger remains in critical condition. Pinellas County authorities identified the deputy involved in the shooting as Christopher Ryan, a three-year veteran of the PCSO. In adherence to standard procedure following such incidents, Ryan has been placed on paid administrative leave.
