Drug Bust Leads to Multiple Arrests in Stephens County

In a recent operation led by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the North Georgia Major Offenders Task Force, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, and the Toccoa police Department, a significant drug bust took place at a residence on 18 Shire Drive. The joint effort followed a thorough four-month-long investigation, resulting in the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal substances and firearms.

Discovery During Routine Traffic Stop

The operation began on March 31 when deputies conducted a routine traffic stop on a red Ford Focus for a brake light violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside. Further inspection revealed a handgun in plain sight in the cup holder. The driver, Justin Holland, was found in possession of marijuana and various forms of cocaine, leading to his arrest.

During the search of the passengers, Alexander Brown was found with a significant amount of cash and an outstanding warrant, while Jaquion Turner had a warrant out of Hall County. This initial encounter led investigators to suspect broader criminal activity at the residence on Shire Drive.

Residence Raid Uncovers Drugs and Firearms

Following the traffic stop, authorities secured the residence on Shire Drive associated with the passengers. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators uncovered a substantial stash of illegal substances inside the house. The seizure included over a pound of marijuana, crack cocaine, ecstasy, powdered cocaine, and two firearms. Additionally, a large sum of cash amounting to $9,064 was confiscated from the premises.

Arrests and Charges

Jaquion Turner, 26, was arrested on charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Firearms during the commission of certain felonies. Turner remains in custody on a $25,000 bond.

Alexander Brown, 39, faces charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, and Possession of Firearms during commission of certain felonies. Brown is currently held on a $110,000 bond.

Justin Holland, 33, was arrested for Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and a Brake Light Violation. He remains in jail on a $50,000 bond.
