In a recent crackdown on two Augusta gangs, authorities made a significant drug bust, seizing over a pound of fentanyl. This amount of the deadly drug was enough to potentially kill every citizen in the Garden City. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the operation, while two others managed to flee the scene. The suspects were identified as members of the TRVP Moneyy and Only with True Thugs (O-DUB) criminal gangs.

The Search and Seizures
During the investigation, narcotics officers discovered a fentanyl press lab operating within a home on Kaufman Drive, located just a short distance from Hillcrest Memorial Park. Additional seizures took place at 6 Whitney Court, in close proximity to the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. A drug-sniffing dog was deployed at the Kaufman Drive residence, leading officers to uncover a significant amount of fentanyl hidden under pine straw in the yard. The search also yielded crack cocaine, a Glock semi-automatic gun, and other illicit substances.
The Arrested Individuals
Travis Lavert Shubert, 39, Deniodge Allen, 17, and John Dazal Drayton, 34, were all taken into custody on drug and weapons-related charges. Authorities are currently seeking two additional suspects, 30-year-old Demond Jackson and 38-year-old Vander Mingledolph, in connection with the criminal operation. Notably, four out of the five suspects have prior felony convictions ranging from burglary to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

The arrested individuals faced a slew of charges, including trafficking fentanyl, possession of various drugs with intent to distribute, unlawful gang activity, and weapon possession. The suspects are accused of engaging in a fentanyl trafficking enterprise to elevate their status within the criminal organizations to which they belonged.

The O-DUB gang, one of the oldest in Richmond County, has been known to operate in the Barton Village neighborhood. Members of the gang often identify themselves with tattoos bearing the initials BVS, representing Barton Village Soldier. The gang’s presence has been documented in media reports dating back to 2017, shedding light on its influence and activities within the community.
Law Enforcement Efforts
Last October, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office launched “Operation No Loyalty,” a targeted initiative aimed at dismantling a violent drug-trafficking organization operating in Augusta. The operation, spanning two years and involving multiple phases, resulted in numerous arrests, seizure of firearms, and confiscation of illicit substances.
