Arrest of 11 Suspects Linked to Robbery Operations in Ogun State

The Ogun State police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime by apprehending 11 suspects allegedly involved in robbery operations across various areas of the state. The suspects were arrested in locations including Omu-Ijebu in Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Sango-Ota, and Ilese-Ijebu over the span of Friday and Saturday.

Details of the Arrests

Confirming the arrests to PUNCH Metro on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, revealed the names of the suspects who were apprehended. Among them were Babangida Umar, Mubarak Abdullah, Ramon Idris, Adeyeye Bola, and Ibrahim Oseni in Omu-Ijebu. Others, including Oritunmise Ibrahim and Daniel Samuel, were nabbed in Ilese-Ijebu, while Muhammed Kola, Opeyemi Alani, and Saheed Kelani were apprehended in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.

Robbery Incidents and Arrests

According to a police source, a group of suspected robbers, including Idris, Oseni, and Bola, raided apartments in Omu-Ijebu armed with weapons while the occupants were asleep. The suspects made away with personal belongings, including iPhone 13 and 14 Promax, before the occupants raised an alarm leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

Odutola confirmed the arrests and stated that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects. Additionally, in a separate incident in Sagamu, a commercial motorcyclist was attacked by suspected robbers, leaving him injured and his motorcycle stolen.

Police Operations and Recovery of Firearms

During a patrol operation in Ilese-Ijebu, police officers arrested suspects involved in an armed robbery operation following intelligence from the community. Firearms were recovered from the suspects, and investigations revealed that one of them had been arrested twice the previous year for similar offences.

In another operation in Sango-Ota, three suspects specialized in armoured cable theft were apprehended by the police. The suspects, including Babangida Umar, Mubarak Abdullah, and Abubakar Muhammed, were caught in the act by the authorities.

Continued Efforts to Combat Crime

The police in Abeokuta also arrested three suspected robbers attempting to break into retail shops in the Lafenwa area. Odutola described the suspects as notorious members of a criminal syndicate that had been causing havoc in various communities in the state capital.

The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents by relentlessly pursuing criminals and bringing them to justice.
