A man tragically lost his life after being intentionally struck by an SUV in Brockton, Massachusetts. The victim, identified as Stuart Smith, 50, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening, more than 12 hours after the horrific incident. The driver of the SUV, Vasco Semedo, 45, now faces a murder charge in connection with the pedestrian crash.

Details of the Incident
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office revealed that the fatal incident took place on Saturday morning at 65 North Main Street in Brockton. Reports came in around 8:53 a.m. about a pedestrian accident, and when officers arrived at the scene, they found Smith unconscious on the sidewalk in front of a Toyota Rav 4. Semedo was detained by bystanders at the location.
Smith was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital and later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital via medical helicopter. Despite the efforts to save him, he passed away at 10:34 p.m. that same day.
Charges and Arrest
Semedo was immediately arrested at the scene and initially charged with attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. However, following Smith’s tragic death, the charge was escalated to murder.
Authorities revealed that Semedo was behind the wheel of the Rav 4 when he intentionally struck Smith. Shockingly, after hitting him, Semedo reversed the vehicle and struck Smith again. He then exited the SUV and used a brick to repeatedly hit Smith, who was lying on the ground.
