Illegal Ganja Plants Seized in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh

Khargone police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against illegal drug activities by seizing a substantial quantity of illegal ganja plants in two separate cases. The crackdown comes ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with directives from Police Headquarters, Bhopal, to curb drug smuggling and cultivation in the region.

In a proactive move, a police team was formed under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police (SP) and conducted a raid at fields belonging to accused Gunsingh Awase and Gina Vaskale in Harankundiya village. Acting on a tip-off, the team discovered a total of 2,342 green plants of illegal ganja, weighing a staggering 7.58 quintals. The estimated value of the seized ganja plants is around Rs 75 lakh.

During the operation, Gunsingh Awase was apprehended, while Gina Vaskale managed to escape. A case has been registered under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigations are underway to uncover the extent of the illegal drug network in the area.

One Arrested with Illicit Liquor in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh

In another major crackdown on illegal activities, Kukshi police in Dhar district arrested an individual and seized a significant amount of illicit liquor from a car in Kukshi town. The operation, carried out in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, was a result of the diligent efforts of a team led by Kukshi police station in-charge Rajesh Yadav.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team set up a blockade on the main road in Narmadanagar, leading to the interception of a car suspected of carrying illicit liquor. The driver attempted to flee upon seeing the police presence but was swiftly apprehended. Upon searching the vehicle, police found 43 boxes of illicit liquor, amounting to 516 bulk litres and valued at Rs 1.6 lakh. Additionally, the car, valued at Rs 7 lakh, was seized by the authorities.

The accused, identified as Rajendra Verma of Vikash Nagar, was promptly arrested. A case has been registered under section 34(2) of the Excise Act, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source and destination of the illicit liquor. This significant seizure underscores the relentless efforts of the police to combat illicit liquor activities, especially during critical events such as elections.

By taking swift and decisive action against illegal drug and liquor activities, the police in Khargone and Dhar districts are sending a clear message that such illegal practices will not be tolerated.
