Danda Nata Artists Meet Tragic Fate in Ganjam District
The first accident occurred in Ganjam district, where members of a ‘Danda Nata’ folk art group were involved in a fatal crash. Two individuals lost their lives in the accident, while 15 others sustained injuries when the pickup they were travelling in overturned at Sompur square on Saturday morning.
The injured victims were promptly taken to Hinjili hospital for medical assistance. Seven of them were later transferred to MKCG Medical College Hospital in Berhampur city due to the severity of their injuries. Hospital sources revealed that three of the critically injured individuals suffered head injuries in the accident.
The ‘Danda Nata’ artists were returning from Dahimundali village to Kheti Berhampur in two pickup vans after completing a performance when the tragic incident occurred.
Father-Son Duo Tragically killed in Jajpur District
In a separate incident in Jajpur district, a father-son duo met with a fatal road accident near Baruhan square. The deceased individuals were identified as Sainda Jena (60) and his son Muna Jena (27), residents of Simulua village in the district.

The father and son were on their way back home after visiting a relative’s house when a tipper collided with their motorcycle around 9 pm on Friday. Sadly, the father lost his life on the spot, while the son succumbed to his injuries at the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital.
