death – Obituary- Cause of Death News : Mary Marlin, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Mary was born on September 10, 1950, in Springfield, Illinois to the late John and Margaret Thompson. She grew up in a close-knit family and was known for her kind heart and infectious laughter.

Mary met the love of her life, John Marlin, in college and they were married for 45 wonderful years. Together, they raised three children, Michael, Sarah, and Emily, who were the light of Mary’s life. She was a devoted mother, always putting her children’s needs before her own. Mary was also a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and happiness.

Mary had a passion for helping others and spent many years volunteering at local charities and community organizations. She had a special place in her heart for animals and was known for rescuing stray cats and dogs in her neighborhood. In addition to her family and volunteering, Mary had many hobbies and interests. She loved to garden and could often be found tending to her flowers and vegetables in her backyard. She was a talented cook and loved hosting family gatherings, where she would prepare delicious meals for everyone to enjoy.

Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, John Marlin; her children, Michael Marlin, Sarah Johnson, and Emily Parker; her grandchildren, Thomas, Emma, Lily, Jack, and Olivia; her siblings, Susan Thompson and David Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A funeral service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield, Illinois. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local animal shelter in Mary’s memory.

Mary was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
