The officer was able to retrieve the purse from the water and return it to the individual. Burdick was subsequently arrested for theft, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During a search of Burdick’s person, police allegedly found a small plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine, according to court documents. Burdick also allegedly had a glass smoking pipe in his possession.
Burdick was taken into custody and transported to the Towanda Police Department for processing. He was then released on bail pending his preliminary hearing, which is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Carr on April 16 at 10:00 a.m.
