The Deceased Heroes
The brave sub-inspector, identified as Deepak Sharma from Udhampur, was stationed at the Ramgarh police station in Samba district. Tragically, he succumbed to head injuries sustained during the intense exchange of fire. Additionally, a special police officer (SPO) was also injured in the line of duty.
The Notorious Gangster
The gangster who met his end in the shootout was known as Vasudev, also called Shunnu, hailing from Ramgarh. With a history of over six criminal cases registered against him at the Ramgarh police station, Vasudev was no stranger to the authorities. Moreover, he had been detained under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) in the past, highlighting his dangerous criminal activities.
The Gang Connection
Investigations revealed that Vasudev was associated with a gang led by Jatinder Singh, alias Shallu, from Gurah Slathia village in Samba district. Shallu, who remains at large, is wanted by the police for his involvement in the recent killing of rival gangster Mohan Cheer in Mohali, Punjab.
