Man Arrested for Brandishing Firearm While Intoxicated in Bangkok

police in Bangkok apprehended a 60-year-old man, identified as Prasobchok or Chok Samkok, following reports of him brandishing a firearm while intoxicated at a rental room in Phetkasem 26 Alley, Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen Subdistrict, Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok. The arrest was made after citizens lodged complaints about the individual publicly carrying a firearm and allegedly using drugs at the property.

Coordinated Effort by Law Enforcement Officers

The arrest of Prasobchok was a coordinated effort by senior law enforcement officers, including Police Lieutenant General Thiti Saengsawang, the Metropolitan Police Chief, and his deputies, along with investigative officers from the fourth subdivision. The investigation leading to the arrest began after the division’s detectives received complaints from citizens.

Charges and Seized Items

Prasobchok faced charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition without a permit from the local registrar. Authorities seized a Norinco model 213 semi-automatic pistol, 39 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 14 rounds of .38 calibre ammunition, and a knife during the arrest. The man, who had a history of illegal gambling, lacked a firearm permit.

Confession and Legal Proceedings

Upon confirmation of his residence, authorities obtained a search warrant from the Thonburi Criminal Court. Prasobchok confessed to the crime and was initially taken to Phasi Charoen Police Station for legal proceedings.

Additionally, Pattaya and Chon Buri police joined forces for a targeted operation that led to the apprehension of two Chinese nationals for possession of illegal firearms. The duo was caught with a cache of weapons, including a 9-millimetre semi-automatic pistol, two magazines, handcuffs, ammunition, and a mysterious shoulder bag filled with various items. This collaborative effort showcases the commitment of law enforcement agencies in combatting illegal activities.
