Discovery of Victims and Arrest of Suspect
The investigation unfolded after Prince William County police officers found two women dead from gunshot wounds at the Westgate Apartments and Townhomes in Manassas. The victims were identified as Leann Renee Harris, 34, and Asia Payne, 22, both from the Manassas area. The suspect, Edward James Jackson Bland, was arrested by the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office after being found driving a stolen vehicle.

The police were initially alerted to the situation when reports of a man with a gun surfaced around 12:45 a.m. in the 8100 block of Porters Ridge Lane in Manassas. Simultaneously, a 61-year-old man reported being carjacked at gunpoint in the same area. Fortunately, the carjacking victim was unharmed during the incident.
Arrest and Charges
Following further investigation, Jackson Bland was charged with two counts of murder, carjacking, and firearm-related offenses.
