The incident took place at approximately 1:30 p.m. when a 2006 Jeep Wagoneer, driven by 88-year-old William W Keyt from Rice, Washington, was travelling southbound at milepost 214, just three miles south of Addy, Washington. The Jeep collided with a 1973 Mack dump truck from behind, resulting in both vehicles coming to a halt in the southbound lane.
William W Keyt sustained injuries in the crash and was promptly airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the Jeep was completely totaled in the collision, highlighting the severity of the impact.
The driver of the Mack dump truck, identified as 58-year-old Peter G Maresca from Chewelah, fortunately emerged from the crash unharmed. However, the dump truck did sustain damage as a result of the collision.
