Devastating Storm Claims Four Lives in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal
A sudden and fierce storm wreaked havoc in parts of Jalpaiguri district in northern West Bengal, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives and leaving over 100 people injured. The storm, accompanied by strong winds and hail, caused extensive damage to hutments, houses, trees, and electric poles in the district headquarters town and neighbouring areas like Mainaguri.

The most severely affected areas included Rajarhat, Barnish, Bakali, Jorpakdi, Madhabdanga, and Saptibari, where several acres of agricultural land and crops suffered significant damages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the storm and instructed officials to provide proper assistance to the affected individuals. The disaster response team has been deployed, and helpdesks have been set up to aid those in need.

The civil administration, police, and disaster management personnel have been mobilized for relief work in the affected areas. Banerjee assured that compensation would be provided to the families of the deceased and the injured as per established guidelines.
