In a dramatic turn of events on Sunday, a high-speed police chase spanning two counties came to an abrupt end at a gas station in Fort Myers. The chase, involving a black BMW driven by a Cape Coral resident, BiJaun Wayne Edwards, culminated in a crash at the 7-Eleven station near State Road 82 and Blackstone.

The Florida Highway Patrol had been on the lookout for the black BMW after reports of reckless driving near Lake Trafford Road and Summer Glen in Collier County. The driver, later identified as Edwards, had a history of fleeing from law enforcement and had evaded capture on multiple occasions.

Following his arrest, Edwards was taken into custody and booked into the Lee County Jail. He faces charges of aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, hit and run with property damage, and probation violation, among others. The Lee County Jail did not release information on Edwards’ status as of late Sunday evening.
