Encounter at the Gas Pump Area
At around 10:50 a.m., officers approached the driver and passenger of a stolen Chevrolet Malibu at the gas pump area of a business located near the intersection of Highway 385 and Highway 20 in Chadron. The stolen vehicle had been reported missing from Colorado just the previous week.
Weapon Produced by Passenger
During the interaction with the occupants of the stolen vehicle, the passenger, identified as 40-year-old Adrian Muniz from Greeley, Colorado, brandished a weapon. In response, multiple officers discharged their duty weapons, ultimately striking Muniz. He was immediately taken to Chadron Community Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased.
Arrest of Driver and Discovery of Methamphetamine
The driver of the stolen vehicle, 34-year-old Rosalinda Aguilera, also from Greeley, was unharmed during the altercation. However, she was arrested for theft by receiving stolen property amounting to over $5000, as well as an existing warrant from Colorado. The investigation uncovered that Muniz had a warrant as well. Furthermore, methamphetamine was found in the vehicle following the incident.
