Michael “Mike” R. Obermeier was born on April 15, 1953, in West Bend, Wisconsin, to parents John and Mary Obermeier. He grew up in the West Bend area and attended West Bend East High School, where he was known for his athletic abilities and friendly demeanor. After graduating from high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for four years.

During his time in the military, Mike was stationed in various locations around the world, including Germany and South Korea. He received several commendations for his service and was honorably discharged as a decorated veteran. After returning home to West Bend, Mike pursued a career in construction, where he excelled in carpentry and building maintenance.
In addition to his work, Mike was a dedicated member of the West Bend community. He volunteered his time with local organizations, such as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he helped support his fellow veterans and their families. Mike was also a longtime member of the West Bend Lions Club, participating in numerous community service projects and fundraising events.
Mike was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it was fixing a leaky roof or simply offering a listening ear. His sense of humor and infectious laughter brightened the lives of those around him, and he will be remembered for his positive outlook on life and unwavering loyalty to his friends and family.
In his free time, Mike enjoyed fishing on the nearby lakes, attending local sporting events, and spending time with his beloved dog, Buddy. He had a passion for classic cars and could often be found tinkering in his garage, restoring old vehicles to their former glory. Mike also had a love for music, especially classic rock, and would often be seen playing his guitar at local jam sessions.

Mike is survived by his sister, Susan, and her family, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the West Bend Community Center on April 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Bend Lions Club in Mike’s honor. May he rest in peace, knowing that he made a lasting impact on the world around him.
