The modus operandi of the gang involved marrying off individuals and then fleeing the scene soon after, leaving the unsuspecting victims in a state of shock and confusion.

A Victim’s Story

One victim, Manohar Meshram, narrated his harrowing experience with the gang. His son, Pravin, was promised a bride by a woman named Komal Patil, who turned out to be in league with the fraudsters. Sonu, one of the gang members, took Rs 50,000 from Manohar for arranging Pravin’s marriage. However, the marriage turned out to be a sham, as Sonu fled the matrimonial home the very next day, leaving the Meshram family devastated and betrayed.

The Police Crackdown

Upon receiving complaints from several families, the Nagpur Rural Police launched an extensive investigation into the activities of the gang.
