Berhampur: Police authorities in Berhampur made a grim discovery on Friday when they found the body of a 28-year-old man in Bati Siripur near Upalada in Gajapati district. The deceased was identified as M Lingaraj, a peon working in the minor irrigation department in Paralakhemundi.

According to sources, Lingaraj was on his way to attend a marriage in Gurandi when he was presumably attacked and killed by unknown assailants. His lifeless body was found by the roadside and subsequently sent for postmortem examination.
Inspector in-charge Rabindra Panda of Gurandi police station stated, “The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. We have deployed a forensic team and a dog squad to aid in the investigation.”
