In a recent development in Las Cruces, New Mexico, a man named Jose M. Castaneda, aged 33, was apprehended in connection to a storage unit robbery that took place in February. The victim was able to identify Castaneda due to his distinctive face tattoos, leading to his arrest on Thursday.

The Robbery Incident
The robbery occurred at a storage facility located on 302 E. Union Avenue, near S. Main Street, on February 15. The owner of one of the storage units happened to be driving by when he noticed someone breaking into his unit. Confronting the suspect, who was wearing a face mask, the owner was met with aggression as the suspect brandished a handgun and issued a threat.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the suspect, later identified as Castaneda, fled the scene, leaving behind his car and girlfriend. A few days later, on February 20, the victim was brought to the Las Cruces Police Station to identify the stolen items that were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. It was during this process that the victim recognized Castaneda’s ID and face tattoos, confirming his suspicions about the perpetrator.
Charges Faced by Castaneda
Jose M. Castaneda is currently facing multiple charges related to the robbery incident, including breaking and entering, criminal damage to property (under $1,000), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon, and resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer.
