Highlights of the Patrol

Peoria Police Spokeswoman Semone Roth reported that officers carried out 52 vehicle stops, issued 29 tickets, recovered three stolen vehicles, and seized two weapons and illegal drugs. The successful operation was a result of diligent police work and strategic planning.

During the patrol, officers made three notable arrests after vehicles of interest were identified by a License Plate Reader. One vehicle, connected to a suspect wanted in connection to a shooting in another jurisdiction, was located near Main and Frink Streets.

Arrests Made

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detained 26-year-old Jerail M. Gilliam and 23-year-old William J. Tuson, both passengers in the vehicle. Two loaded guns were allegedly found in their possession, leading to their arrest on multiple gun and drug charges. They were later transported to the Peoria County Jail for further processing.

Another incident involved a stolen vehicle that was identified near University Street and Thrush Avenue. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed when officers attempted to stop it, eventually being located abandoned shortly after.

Additional Arrests

Officers were able to identify 30-year-old Frederick T. Pates as a suspect matching the description of the individual fleeing the stolen vehicle. Pates was arrested for alleged possession of a stolen motor vehicle and fleeing and eluding police. He, too, was taken to the Peoria County Jail for processing.

Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria expressed his pride in the efforts of the department, stating, “These arrests are evidence that the Peoria Police Department will not stop its efforts of making the city of Peoria a safe community for all.
