Bengaluru police arrested a woman for allegedly stealing laptops from multiple PG accommodations.

Bengaluru:

A 29-year-old woman from Rajasthan has been apprehended by Bengaluru police for her involvement in a string of laptop thefts from various paying guest accommodations in the city since 2022.

Uncovering the Crimes

Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dayananda, disclosed that the culprit, identified as Jassu Agarwal, was nabbed with a total of 24 laptops valued at Rs 10 lakh.

Detailing the modus operandi of the thefts, the Police Commissioner revealed, “A laptop, charger, and mouse were reported stolen from a rented residence under the HAL police station, leading to a case being filed at the HAL police station in October of last year.”

Following a thorough investigation, the accused was taken into custody and subjected to extensive interrogation. It was through this process that Jassu Agarwal was ultimately found with the stolen laptops.

The Criminal’s Operations

The thefts were primarily carried out in paying guest accommodations located near software company hubs and other residential areas such as Tin Factory, Marathahalli, Bellandur, Silkboard Hebbala, Whitefield, and Mahadevpur.

Further investigations unveiled that the stolen laptops were being offloaded to various laptop shops in Marathahalli, Yalahanka, and Hebbal by the accused perpetrator.

Under the guidance of HAL Police Inspector and other authorities, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield Division, Sivakumar, successfully cracked the case against the accused, bringing an end to her criminal activities.
