Details of the Operation

The NCB officials received a tip-off about an inter-state syndicate operating the illicit drug business in the coastal state of Goa. The intelligence suggested that due to strict checking at airports, parcel offices, and land routes, a locally-operated syndicate was taking advantage of Goa’s status as a tourist destination to supply narcotics through illegal channels.

Arrest of Suspects

Following the received information, the NCB team conducted surveillance and intercepted a Rajasthan-based man, identified as J Singh, in North Goa’s Candolim area. The officials seized 532 grams of Methamphetamine from his possession and also confiscated a vehicle that he was allegedly using to deliver the drugs. During the investigation, another individual, R Singh, was arrested for providing logistical support to facilitate the drug deal in Goa.

Kingpin of the Syndicate

J Singh, believed to be the mastermind behind the drug trafficking syndicate, had recently returned to India from working abroad. Motivated by quick financial gains, he roped in his friend to assist in procuring and supplying drugs in Goa. Both individuals arrived in Goa a month ago and had been staying in a rented accommodation in Candolim.

Legal Proceedings

The arrested suspects were produced before a judge and remanded to custody for five days. The NCB officials are continuing their investigation to uncover any additional links to the drug trafficking network and gather more evidence to build a strong case against the syndicate.
