Robert Jaegers, a well-respected Palm Beach County prosecutor and Air Force veteran, was tragically found dead this week in a wildlife and environmental area near the Palm Beach County and Martin County border. Jaegers, 71, was reported missing by his family from his Jupiter Farms-area home, sparking an extensive search by authorities.
Jaegers’ body was discovered on Tuesday, March 26, in the Hungryland Wildlife and Environmental Area, a vast 16,600-acre region east of Pratt Whitney Road. Despite the search efforts led by Palm Beach and Martin County sheriff’s deputies, the cause of Jaegers’ death remains unknown, with no visible signs of trauma reported by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
A Passionate Public Servant and Leader in the Community
Described by Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg as a man with a passion for public service, Jaegers had dedicated his life to serving others. Aronberg highlighted Jaegers’ role in overseeing cases in the Palm Beach County Veterans Court, where he provided treatment and rehabilitation services to combat and non-combat veterans referred to the court.

Jaegers’ commitment to public service extended beyond his legal career, as he was actively involved in the American Legion, serving as the past commander of both Post 12 in West Palm Beach and Post 271 in Tequesta. His leadership and dedication to the American Legion were praised by fellow members, who remembered him as a good man, a good veteran, and a beloved figure in the community.
Remembering a Life of Service and Sacrifice
Born in 1952, Jaegers graduated from Penn State and became an attorney in 1978 after attending Ohio Northern University-Claude W. Pettit College of Law. His service in the U.S. Air Force from 1978 to 2005 further exemplified his commitment to his country and his fellow veterans. Jaegers is survived by his wife, Denise, their daughters Heidi and Kathryn, and their sons Robert and Charles.
