Norma was born on May 10, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John and Mary Thompson. She was the youngest of four siblings and grew up in a loving and close-knit family.
Norma met the love of her life, Robert Franklin, at a young age, and they were married for over 50 years. Together, they raised three children and built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Norma was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family’s needs above her own. She was known for her kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering strength.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Norma was a successful businesswoman. She worked as a real estate agent for over 30 years, helping countless families find their dream homes. Norma was passionate about her work and took great pride in providing exceptional service to her clients. She was known for her professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
Outside of work, Norma had a passion for gardening and spending time outdoors. She had a green thumb and could often be found tending to her beautiful flower beds or working in her vegetable garden. Norma’s love for nature was evident in everything she did, and she found peace and solace in the beauty of the world around her.
Norma was also a devoted member of her community, volunteering her time and resources to various charitable organizations. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Norma’s generosity and compassion touched the lives of many, and her legacy of kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Norma is survived by her loving husband, Robert Franklin; her children, Sarah (David) Johnson, Michael (Jennifer) Franklin, and Emily (Mark) Roberts; her grandchildren, Matthew, Olivia, Emma, Jacob, Sophia, and Lily; her siblings, James Thompson, Susan Williams, and Margaret Evans; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Norma’s life will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at St. Mary’s Church in Chicago, Illinois. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Norma’s memory.
