The fire originated in apartment A on the 12th floor of a building located at 400 Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue, where three students from the province of Jujuy were residing. Among them was Tiziano Tejerina, an 18-year-old who had recently moved to Córdoba to pursue studies in Medicine at the National University of Córdoba (UNC). Tragically, Tiziano lost his life in the fire, while his fellow resident, 19-year-old Sebastián Diquín, sustained severe burns and fractures.
Gustavo Matus, from the Emergency Hospital, provided an update on Sebastián’s condition, stating that resuscitation maneuvers were performed, and he was currently receiving treatment with a reserved prognosis. The harrowing incident garnered attention on social media, with reports detailing the desperate attempts made by the young men to save themselves from the engulfing flames.
Inspector Commissioner Sergio Cravero shed light on the sequence of events, revealing that authorities were alerted to the fire around 4:45 on a fateful Thursday. By the time emergency teams arrived, 35 individuals had already self-evacuated, emphasizing the swift and coordinated response to the crisis. The building housed a mix of families and students, with most of the residents being students themselves.
