The Boise police Department, in collaboration with the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office, has revealed a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation of the shooting incident that took place on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024. Tia Garcia, a 27-year-old from Twin Falls, has been formally charged with aiding and abetting escape in connection to the incident.

After intensive work by law enforcement officials, it became evident that Garcia played a role in the escape of Skylar Meade, an escaped prisoner who was eventually apprehended in the Twin Falls area. The latest reports indicate that Garcia was already in custody at the Twin Falls County Jail due to a probation/parole violation when the additional charge related to Meade’s escape was filed against her. She has since been transferred to the Ada County Jail to face the new accusation.
Boise Police Chief Ron Winegar has confirmed that Garcia had prior knowledge of and actively participated in the planning and execution of Meade’s escape. Chief Winegar expressed his gratitude towards the diligent efforts of law enforcement officers and prosecutors statewide, emphasizing their vital role in addressing this perilous situation.
The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force is currently investigating the officer-involved shooting aspect of the incident. The officer involved has been identified as W. Anderson, boasting 27 years of law enforcement experience, with the last 12 years spent serving at the Boise Police Department.
Further information, including body camera footage and a detailed timeline of events, will be disclosed upon the completion of the ongoing investigation.
