Hezbollah Claims Responsibility

Hezbollah, the Shia militant group, has claimed responsibility for firing rockets into the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona and a military base. These rockets resulted in the death of one person and were in direct response to the deadly strike on the paramedics center.

Details of the Strikes

According to the Lebanese news agency, Israel carried out bombings in the village of Teir Harfa after sunset, killing five people. A second strike in the coastal town of Naqoura claimed the lives of four individuals as paramedics gathered near a cafe. The Islamic health society of Hezbollah reported the deaths of two paramedics in Teir Harfa, while the Islamic Risala scout association confirmed the loss of one of its members in the Naqoura strike.

Israel’s Response

Israel’s military stated that they targeted a Hezbollah military compound in Teir Harfa and a “terrorist cell” in Naqoura. The strike in Hebbariye earlier in the day resulted in the death of a member of the Sunni al-Jamaa al-Islamiya and several other militants. Israel claimed that the man was involved in attacks against the country.

Continued Violence

Hezbollah has been launching rockets into northern Israel since the incursion by Hamas-led militants on October 7. The violence has primarily been concentrated along the Lebanon-Israel border, with nearly 240 Hezbollah fighters and about 40 civilians losing their lives in Lebanon. In Israel, nine civilians and 11 soldiers have been killed.

Attacks in the West Bank

In a separate incident, an attacker opened fire on several vehicles on a main route in the occupied West Bank, injuring three people. The Israeli military is conducting searches for the perpetrator who fled the scene. The injuries were reported as moderate or light, with a 13-year-old among the wounded.

Impact on Gaza

UN humanitarian officials have stated that two-thirds of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are not functioning due to intense military activity. Al Amal hospital in the south of the territory has ceased operations. Currently, Gaza only has 12 operating hospitals, with two being minimally functional and 10 partially functional.

The situation in the region remains tense as violence continues to escalate, with both sides suffering casualties. The international community is closely monitoring the developments and calling for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life..
