Israeli Strikes Kill 16 in Lebanon

Recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals, including members of paramedic groups and fighters from Hezbollah. The violence escalated after Hezbollah claimed responsibility for firing rockets into the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona, resulting in one fatality.

Hezbollah Retaliates with Rocket Attacks

Hezbollah stated that the rocket attacks on Israel were in response to an earlier deadly strike on a paramedics centre. The Lebanese news agency reported that Israel bombed the village of Teir Harfa, killing five individuals, and carried out a second strike in Naqoura, resulting in four deaths as paramedics gathered near a cafe.

Losses for Paramedic Groups

The Islamic health society of Hezbollah confirmed the deaths of two paramedics in Teir Harfa, while the Islamic Risala scout association reported the loss of one member in the Naqoura strike. Additionally, the Amal movement announced the death of one of its local commanders, Ali Mahdi, in the Naqoura attack.

Israeli Military Response

Israel’s military stated that it targeted a Hezbollah military compound in Teir Harfa and a “terrorist cell” in Naqoura. The earlier strike in Hebbariye reportedly killed a member of the Sunni al-Jamaa al-Islamiya and several other militants, who were allegedly involved in attacks against Israel.

Continued Violence Along Border

Hezbollah has been launching rockets into northern Israel since militants breached the border on October 7. The ongoing conflict has primarily been concentrated along the Lebanon-Israel border, resulting in casualties on both sides.

Attacker Wounds Three in West Bank

Separately, an attacker opened fire on several vehicles on a main route in the occupied West Bank, injuring three individuals. The Israeli military is conducting searches for the perpetrator, who fled the scene after the shooting. Magen David Adom reported that the injuries were moderate or light, with a 13-year-old among the wounded.

Hospitals in Gaza Face Challenges

In Gaza, UN humanitarian officials revealed that two-thirds of the territory’s 36 hospitals are currently non-operational. This situation worsened after Al Amal hospital in the south ceased operations due to intense military activity. As a result, Gaza now only has 12 functioning hospitals, with limited capabilities in both the north and south regions.
