Hezbollah Retaliates with Rocket Attacks

Following the deadly Israeli strikes, the Shia militant group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for firing a barrage of rockets into the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona and a military base. These attacks resulted in the death of one person and were said to be in response to the strike on the paramedics centre.

Details of the Attacks

Reports from the Lebanese news agency indicate that Israel bombed the village of Teir Harfa after sunset, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. A second strike in the coastal town of Naqoura killed four people as paramedics gathered near a cafe. Among the casualties were two paramedics from Hezbollah’s Islamic health society and one member from the Islamic Risala scout association.

Israel’s Response

Israel’s military stated that they had targeted a Hezbollah military compound in Teir Harfa and a “terrorist cell” in Naqoura. They also mentioned that the earlier strike in Hebbariye had killed a member of the Sunni al-Jamaa al-Islamiya and several other militants, citing the man’s involvement in attacks against Israel.

Continued Violence

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has led to near-daily violence along the Lebanon-Israel border. Nearly 240 Hezbollah fighters and around 40 civilians have lost their lives in Lebanon, while nine civilians and 11 soldiers have been killed in Israel.

Attacks in the West Bank

In a separate incident, an attacker wounded three people by opening fire at several vehicles on a main route in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli military reported that the attacker fled the scene, and forces were conducting searches. The injuries were said to be moderate or light, with a 13-year-old among the wounded.

Healthcare Crisis in Gaza

Meanwhile, in Gaza, the UN humanitarian officials have reported that two-thirds of the territory’s 36 hospitals are not functioning. This crisis was exacerbated by the closure of Al Amal hospital in the south of Gaza due to intense military activity. Currently, Gaza only has 12 operating hospitals, with two being minimally functional and 10 partially functional, four in the north and six in the south.

These recent developments highlight the ongoing tensions and violence in the region, with both sides continuing to engage in deadly clashes. The international community remains concerned about the escalating situation and calls for a peaceful resolution to the conflict..
