Tragic Death of Elderly Farmer at Punjab-Haryana Border Protest Site
In a heartbreaking turn of events, an elderly farmer, Sher Singh, aged 60, passed away at the Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. Singh, a resident of Sidhuwal village, had been camping at the Shambu border of Punjab-Haryana since the ‘Delhi Chalo’ 2.0 protest began on February 13.

According to fellow farmers, Singh started complaining of uneasiness and breathing difficulties on Monday. He was initially taken to a hospital in Rajpura but was later referred to the Government Rajindra Hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, Singh succumbed to his ailments on Tuesday morning.
BKU (Bhateri Kalan) leader Balkar Singh shared that Sher Singh is survived by his son, daughter, and grandsons. He was one of four brothers and owned approximately 4 acres of land. Despite not being in debt, he chose to remain at the protest site and had only recently returned after a brief visit home.
Dr. H S Rekhi, the medical superintendent at Government Rajindra Hospital, stated that the exact cause of Sher Singh’s death will be determined following a post-mortem examination.
