Bukit Aman police Believe Video of Man Making Derogatory Remarks Recorded Overseas

In a recent development, the Bukit Aman police department has revealed that they believe the video showing a man making derogatory remarks towards Islam, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the police force was recorded overseas. This man has been identified as N. Ganesparan, who has left the country since 2018, with no records indicating his return.

Repeat Offender

According to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, this is not the first time Ganesparan has made offensive statements about the royal institution, religion, and politics. A total of 22 cases have been opened against him since 2018, with investigations revealing that he had left the country and not returned. In 2021, he was charged in absentia for insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Prime Minister.

Interpol Involvement

Police have taken steps to locate Ganesparan, including requesting Interpol to place him under a red notice. However, due to limitations in Interpol’s jurisdiction regarding religious and racial issues, the Immigration Department was asked to cancel his passport. In November 2020, his passport was revoked, and he is now without valid travel documents.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that Ganesparan is believed to be in Hamburg, Germany, after leaving Malaysia on November 2, 2017. The Selangor state government has lodged a police report against him to facilitate further investigation and necessary actions.
