In a recent development, police have revealed that the man behind the video containing offensive remarks towards Islam, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the police force is believed to have recorded the video overseas. The man in question, identified as N. Ganesparan, has been out of the country since 2018, with no records indicating his return.

History of Offensive Statements
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain stated that this is not the first time Ganesparan has made derogatory statements about the royal institution, religion, and politics. A total of 22 investigation papers have been opened against him since 2018, with charges filed against him in 2021 for insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Prime Minister.

The police have requested Interpol to issue a red notice for Ganesparan, although religious and racial issues are not covered under Interpol’s Article 3. However, measures have been taken to cancel his passport, which was revoked in November 2020. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain mentioned that Ganesparan is believed to be in Hamburg, Germany, after leaving the country in November 2017.
