Decatur police Continue Search for Gunman in Deadly Shooting
In the city of Decatur, Illinois, tragedy struck on February 28th when a deadly shooting took place at the intersection of North Martin Luther King and E. Pershing Rd. The victim, Kemari A. Carr, a 22-year-old Decatur resident, was found inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds to his body. Despite efforts to save him, Carr was pronounced dead at Decatur Memorial Hospital Emergency Room shortly after his arrival.

According to the coroner’s report, Carr suffered gunshot trauma from another vehicle near the intersection of Pershing Rd. and Martin Luther King Dr. An autopsy revealed that Carr was killed by a single gunshot wound to the chest, along with multiple gunshot wounds to his extremities. An unknown person or persons had exited a white SUV and fired at the Pontiac before fleeing the scene in the SUV.
